Rolex Day-Date: unmistakable style for a statutory watch

It was in 1956 that Rolex invented the Day-Date. At the time, it was truly revolutionary as it was the first wristwatch to show the date and day in their entirety, hence its name. In 1956, date of its creation, this chronograph is also equipped with a unique bracelet, the famous President. Specially designed for the Rolex Day-Date, this bracelet will allow the watch to differentiate itself even more. Embodying luxury and comfort, the President bracelet is also distinguished by its precious metals, its innovative design and its three semi-circular links. If the Rolex Day-Date is so popular today, it is mainly because of its timeless style and its distinctive sign that has remained: its window showing the day of the week. There are also very chic dials in diamonds or more original models in mother of pearl. But some models also have a colored dial, in green, orange or even chocolate, for example. As for the bezel, it is fluted on some references and smooth on others. Thanks to all these slight modifications, this prestigious wristwatch has been able to decline, while maintaining a strong identity.

The timeless prestige watch signed Rolex

Between its very high-end materials and its personalized bracelet, the Rolex Day-Date had all the arguments to seduce the greatest of this world. Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th president of the United States, was one of the first to succumb to the charm of this watch. After him, it was the turn of John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Lyndon Baines Johnson, among others, to wear this exceptional timepiece on their wrists. According to legend, Marilyn Monroe gave a Rolex Day-Date to President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in 1962, following the memorable "Happy Birthday Mister President". This story is circulating since the watch was accompanied by a case on which is written "Jack - With love as always from Marilyn - May 29th 1962". Whether it is a simple myth or reality, it symbolizes the aura of the Rolex Day-Date since its marketing in the late fifties. It is not without reason that we find this wristwatch in a Rolex ad featuring the American president in the Oval Office... and men of power. From actors to fictional characters, from businessmen to religious figures, many people have worn the Swiss chronograph. Among them are former Pope John Paul II and investor Warren Buffett. In popular culture, the Rolex Day-Date has made notable appearances in many films and series such as The Sopranos, Rocky Balboa, Miami Vice and Rain Man. So much proof of the prestige of this legendary wristwatch.
