Aquaracer: a dedication to 100 years of innovation

The Aquaracer, Tag Heuer's dive watch par excellence, is the fruit of a century of innovation and expertise. Tag Heuer began this marine adventure in 1895 when it filed a patent for one of the first waterproof cases for pocket watches. After the advent of wristwatches, the watchmaking company surprised with the first tideograph: the first chronograph with a dial for regattas and a tide indicator. After the release of a chronograph in 1972, it was the turn of the brand's first diving watch in 1978: the Heuer 844. The 2000 series, launched in the early 1980s, set the standard for Heuer diving watches: 20ATM water resistance, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, luminescent markings, screw-down crown with double seal and double safety clasp. So many features that will guide the collection, renamed Aquaracer in 2004.

An atypical design for a must-have dive watch

The special shape of the bezel makes the Aquaracer stand out from other dive watches. It can be made of steel, titanium or ceramic and has 12 facets that make it atypical. It is graduated over 60 minutes and has luminescent indexes and a zero marker that make the watch readable in the dark. Like the bezel, the case can be made of steel, titanium or in a two-tone version (mixing steel and 18K gold). The steel case is polished and satin finished. The particularly hard titanium versions are scratch resistant and light. For titanium cases, TAG Heuer favors a sandblasted finish, reinforcing the matte appearance of titanium. The crown and caseback are screwed down, allowing the timepieces to remain water resistant between 300m and 500m. By offering three strap options, TAG Heuer is able to meet the needs of everyone: you can choose between a metal strap, a textile strap and a rubber strap.
