Constellation, the superstar of the House of Omega

The Constellation watch is arguably the most iconic timepiece from the Omega manufacture. Created more than 70 years ago, this flagship model was the brand's first mass-produced chronometer. Since then, its design has been revisited many times, but the Constellation remains an iconic watch that is the stuff of dreams for all lovers of fine watchmaking. The first Constellation model was presented in 1952. It is actually a watch manufactured a few years earlier in a limited edition called the Centenary. This reference had immediately seduced the public with its elegant lines, its perfect proportions, an automatic movement and an infallible chronometer. Omega, aware of the Centenary's success, decided to produce the model in series. The new collection was given the name Constellation - a word that would appear on the dial of all watches in the collection. The first Constellations will also have the distinction of offering a small medallion on the back of the case representing the Geneva observatory surrounded by several stars.

Constellation watches: a huge variety of shapes and designs

If the Omega Constellation watch has been able to adapt to the air of time and modern lifestyles, it has often retained the traditional elements that made its success: the model is still dressed with a star positioned at 6 o'clock in the dial and, since the 1980s, is distinguished by its famous gold claws (4 in number) screwed on the bezel. The bracelet is generally made of horizontal links. Despite this proud aesthetic heritage, the collection now offers a wide variety of designs. There is a wide variety of dials, including the iconic "Honey-Comb" guilloché or "Pie-Pan" dials, cases (tonneau, rectangular, square, round) and straps, in leather or steel - the 1970s references remain the most timeless and sought-after models. Constellation watches have also been transformed over time to take advantage of the most advanced Omega technologies. For both men and women, these reference models are exceptional timepieces that are among the most prestigious pieces of luxury watchmaking. Find all the Omega models on Cresus.
