Rolex Yacht-Master: conquering the seas

In the 1990s, Rolex embarked on a new conquest: that of the seas and oceans. With this in mind, the Swiss manufacturer unveiled its very first timepiece designed for sailing and maritime expeditions in 1992: the Yacht-Master watch. This model quickly became a valuable companion for sailing professionals and participated in numerous regattas around the world, allowing Rolex to conquer new lands at the same time. Being able to face the seas and oceans, the Rolex Yacht-Master watches are designed to be very robust. The majority of the models are made of 904L stainless steel. This chronograph is also a ceremonial watch: there are models in rose gold ("Everose"), stainless steel and yellow gold (a combination called "Rolesor") and steel and platinum (otherwise known as "Rolesium"). To assist sailors in their daily adventures, Rolex Yacht-Master watches also feature a bi-directional rotating platinum bezel. Graduated in relief over 60 minutes, it makes it easier to calculate the sailing time between two buoys on a sailboat, catamaran or other type of boat.

The Yacht-Master II watch: a step ahead of its predecessor

Unveiled in 2007, before being released in 2010, the Rolex Yacht-Master II watch follows in the footsteps of its illustrious predecessor. Considered one of the most complicated Rolex creations, it is defined as a regatta chronograph. When it was launched, it was also the first watch to feature a mechanical memory countdown. The Yacht-Master is ultimately a very powerful tool for the sea and more refined for the land.
