Chopard's gold comes exclusively from artisanal mining operations located in Peru and Colombia that have obtained Fairmined or Fairtrade certification, guaranteeing its traceability. Since pure gold is naturally overly malleable, it is here that gold foundry craftsmen create alloys with silver, leather and palladium to obtain 18-karat gold ingots (750/1000th), the basis for making jewellery as well as watches.
