Fashion inspired necklaces from the Roaring Twenties

The history of Hermès jewelry began in 1927, almost a century after Thierry Hermès founded the House. It was the third generation of the family that launched the jewelry business. We are in the golden years, when Paris becomes the capital of the arts, when the art deco style flourishes, when women become emancipated and fashion becomes more democratic. Fashion, precisely, breathes luxury and chic, with its fluid fabrics, straight cuts (Charleston dresses) and jewelry that imposes itself in women's outfits. In this context, the Maison Hermès imagined its first piece of jewelry, inspired by equestrian harnesses: the Bracelet Filet de selle featured a miniature silver bit on a leather strap. A century later, the bit is still found in Hermès necklaces, in a rose gold version set with a diamond. And the House is still inspired by sautoirs as they adorned women's outfits in those roaring twenties.

The chic of silver and gold necklaces

At Hermès, the silver and gold necklaces are made long enough (up to 120 cm in circumference) to be worn single, double or triple round, or even as a tie necklace, updating the spirit of the Roaring Twenties. This is evidenced by the New Farandole collection, which in addition to the length of the necklaces takes up other codes of the House, in particular the links of the Anchor Chain and the stick ring clasp. Hermès remains faithful to 925/1000 silver, but also offers its necklaces in 750/1000 rose gold versions. Gambade necklace, Echappée sautoir, Kelly clochette necklace (in homage to the iconic Kelly bag), Ex-libris motif stamp... Hermès necklaces have the finesse and chic allure in common, once again marking loyalty to the House and its history.

Jewelry accessories that reinvent the Hermès story

In its jewelry accessories business, which brings together jewelry in leather, metal, enamel and horn and lacquer, Hermès dares some original ideas, such as the Curiosity necklace, made entirely of Swift calf leather with its palladium-finish carabiner, or the Harnessing hitchhiking device in buffalo horn. The themes that have always been dear to Hermès, the equestrian world and the sea, return tirelessly in these jewelry lines. The O Kelly pendants in leather and palladium or gold-plated finish, for example, honor the iconic padlock of the eponymous bag, originally imagined to hold the boots and bombs of horsemen. The stylized marine ring is discovered in round lines, those of the Loop collection, a geometry found in the metal pendants Mini Pop H. Hermès colors and shaping of the initial of the House are still worn around the neck thanks to another iconic collection, Pop H. Another advantage of these jewelry accessories is their prices, which make luxury accessible, with models sold new at €330 for the Mini Pop H line, €595 for a Loop pendant in Swift calfskin and gold-plated finish.
