Messika, the diamond from father to daughter

Messika is not only the name of a brand, it is also the name of a family history and transmission, of passion again, for the diamond. Messika was born in 2005. At that time, its founder found that "jewelry lacks a bit of fantasy". Valérie Messika has diamonds in her skin - she considers the stone "a bit like a tattoo". And this has been the case since her childhood, since her father André has been a key figure in the international diamond trade since the early 1970s. I was born to see the diamond from the inside," explains the jeweler today. My eyes were trained to notice the smallest detail, the most subtle shades of shadow, the most imperceptible traits of character. In diamonds, Valerie Messika cuts the heart of her High Jewelry House, based in Paris. She was just 30 years old when she launched her company, eager to bring a different look. "Diamonds can be something other than an engagement stone".

The diamond in motion, jewelry reinvented

To the passion of the diamond, Valerie Messika adds the audacity of creation. She makes it a skin jewelry, feminine and sensual, comfortable and ergonomic. She celebrates femininity and freedom, bets on contemporary designs, invites women to make jewelry their own, to interpret it in their own way. To Forbes magazine, Valerie Messika says, "I draw a lot of my inspiration from haute couture and the small hands that shape it. An analogy could be made, with a more contemporary rhythm, which I tried to transcribe into jewelry. Modernizing the look of the diamond, giving it movement, Messika moves from intention to action. Each piece of the House, we read on its website, is "thought and designed with comfort in mind, accompanying women in their freedom of movement. Messika creates singular pieces, far from the beaten path. The flexibility of their design releases dynamism and energy". Since 2011, the Move collection has been the worthy representative of Valerie Messika's vision. At the heart of the creations, three diamonds slide into a rectangle, symbolizing the love of yesterday, today and tomorrow, and above all the modern and audacious spirit of the brand. Bracelets, rings, necklaces or earrings, Move becomes the signature collection of the house Messika, it is now available in some 130 models.

When Messika seduces Beyoncé... and vice versa

It is sometimes, not to say often, coups de pouce that give wings to a brand. For the House of Messika, this happened in 2014. Beyoncé and Jay-Z had just set the Stade de France on fire, the American pop star was spending a few days in Paris. While gazing at a window display at the Royal Monceau Hotel, Beyoncé fell in love with a double ring, where the diamond-paved rings cover two phalanges. Contacted, the House of Messika offers the jewel, the press photos of the star wearing the ring are multiplying, turning on social networks ... The story repeats itself in 2018, since on the shooting of the video Apeshit at the Louvre Museum, Beyoncé is accompanied by her husband, the Mona Lisa and ... a high jewelry necklace Messika. In 2020, Valerie Messika designed the Diamond Equalizer set, its set of baguettes and upside-down center stone, especially for Beyoncé and even more specifically for her Super Bowl appearance.

A high jewelry collection by Kate Moss

From actress Kristen Stewart to singer Rihanna, many stars are actually going to adopt the Messika jewelry, fully participating in the international flight of the Parisian brand. The House multiplies store openings, from Barcelona to Miami, from Geneva to Hong Kong. The free spirit and a bit of rock are shaking up the codes of jewelry. But today's women are not mistaken. Valérie Messika intends to "pay tribute to all beauties". For this reason, she chose three very different muses: the Puerto Rican model Joan Smalls, the Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks and the British supermodel Kate Moss. Messika takes the collaboration with the "twig" one step further. Kate Moss and Valerie Messika sign together an unprecedented collection of high jewelry, creative and light, which "blows a wind of bohemia on luxury jewelry." The diamond is obviously at the center of all their attention, but with Kate Moss, Messika also puts color in his creations. Malachite, white mother-of-pearl and turquoise combine with new gold combinations, come to sublimate the eternal stone. The collection in fact responds to Messika's vision of jewelry and high jewelry: jewelry as a means of expression and affirmation.
