A Mirage watch from Hegid is first and foremost a Dolce Vita case
The particularity of
Hegid watches is to offer three interchangeable elements: the caseband, the capsule and the bracelet. To do this, the Franco-Swiss brand has developed a dressing complication for
mechanical watchmaking called EVOL and patented. The elements can be changed in a flash and without any tools.
At Hegid, Mirage is thus the name of a caseband, which gives the watch its shape, just like
Vision or
Laboratory.
With its octagonal silhouette in
316L steel - stainless and allergy-free - with brushed finishes, Mirage finds its inspiration in a happy era, the Dolce Vita of the late 1960s. When designing it, its creators thought of a "love cruise aboard an elegant and racy transalpine supercar (...) rolling down the mountainside of the Riviera and then the French Riviera".
Mirage thus takes its build from the aerodynamic shapes of Italian racing cars, displays a
retrofuturistic design by mixing rounded angles and straight lines of the chamfer. Luxury down to the details, the finishes are in polished metal on the crown and other metal parts when the surface has a satin finish with drawn lines, very sober.
Sapphire crystal capsules, mechanical movements
The
Mirage caseband has a diameter of 39.6 mm for a thickness of 11 mm with capsule. Of capsule precisely it is about it, since it is the second element of a Hegid watch. In fact Mirage fits all the capsules of the House, even if three of them are dedicated to him: Mirage Blue, Mirage Pearl and Mirage Black.
The look is different, the movement is the same: the
Hegid watches come with Swiss-made
automatic mechanical movements, chosen for their robustness. The power reserve is 40 hours for uninterrupted use on the wrist, water resistance of 100 meters guaranteed. On the glass side, the Hegid capsules hosts a sapphire crystal treated anti-scratch and anti-reflective.
It remains to choose the look of his watch. Mirage Bleue is a blue sunburst finish dial with metallic index and
luminescent hands, incidentally made using an ancient hand-laid technique for optimal night vision. Mirage Perle adopts a pearl-gray sunburst finish that perfectly matches the metal of the case middle, while Mirage Noire plays on the contrast between silver and black.
The third element of Hegid watches is the
bracelet. For the Mirage line, it is a quilted and stitched nappa leather strap in a saddle-stitched finish that is offered, in a black or hazelnut shade. The quilted strands of the strap are reminiscent of the leather seats of the sports cars and grand tourers that used to travel the roads in the 1960s.
However, remember that Hegid watch straps are also adaptable to all body types and that it is perfectly possible to replace it with a strap from another series.
