The Colt watch was originally developed by Breitling in the 1980s for the armed forces. The original model was primarily intended to be functional and high-performance in order to meet military requirements, especially in extreme conditions of use: it was then equipped with a Quartz movement called Superquartz, whose accuracy was ten times greater than that of an ordinary quartz movement. A few years later, the Colt was launched on the civilian market. The general public and lovers of prestigious timepieces were seduced by its extraordinary resistance, its multiple functions and its numerous models. Although more affordable than many luxury timepieces, Colt watches have excellent technical features. In fact, they have been powered by a chronometer-certified automatic movement since the 2000s. In 2014, the Swiss manufacturer returns with a new design that incorporates the elements that contributed to the success of the original model: a large unidirectional rotating bezel, a polished steel case that is water-resistant to 200 meters, a large screw-down crown, and a black, blue or silver dial with an elegant circular relief. The collection is also adorned with the famous "riders", small cuffs that facilitate the use of the rotating bezel and effectively protect the anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The collection has also been expanded with the release of a chronograph version, a Colt GMT with a second time zone and a feminine model, the Colt Oceane. Water-resistant to 500 meters, the latter is also available in a luxurious version with a diamond-set bezel.
