The De Ville collection was launched in 1967 by the famous Swiss brand Omega. The world's leading sports timekeeper was inspired by its Seamaster De Ville model to create a family of watches in its own right. The objective was to create a collection that would combine the great tradition of watchmaking with the latest technological innovations. To meet these requirements, Omega decided to manufacture the De Ville timepieces in Geneva (previously designed in Biel): these models immediately became the symbol of the perfect harmony between prestigious traditional lines and revolutionary technological advances. The Omega De Ville collection is intimately linked to the development of the watch industry: the Co-Axial escapement was used in a De Ville watch for the very first time. The collection was later the first to be equipped with the manual wind movement 2500, followed by the automatic caliber 8500 with Co-Axial escapement.
