The story of a success

The House of Piaget was founded in 1874. Initially, its activity was directed towards the design and production of precision watch movements striving for technical mastery and unique expertise. The founder, Georges Edouard Piaget, developed his activity so well that when his son Timothée took over the business in 1911, the company seemed to have a bright future. In 1943, Piaget registered its name as a brand; a second birth for the manufacture, erected by the two grandsons of the founder: Gérald and Valentin Piaget. The company's expansion was such that its scope was now international. The orders were so important that a new factory was built and invested in 1945. It was then that Piaget embarked on an unknown and technically remarkable niche: extra-flat movements, which would become a real argument, and even a signature in their own right for the brand.

Innovative proposals

In 1957, Piaget introduced the manually wound 9P calibers with a thickness of 2 mm and 12P, the world's thinnest automatic movement: 2.3 mm. In the 1960's, Piaget once again distinguished itself by launching the cuff watch with hard stone dials. At the same time, the brand experienced a meteoric growth. In 1979 Piaget released the iconic and avant-garde watch that would give it the glory it deserved: the Piaget Polo watch, or the first wristwatch that was so perfectly integrated with the case and bezel that they became one. Piaget has also extended its expertise in the field of high jewelry to offer fabulous jewel-set watches as well as high jewelry collections. In 1998, the Piaget Altiplano extra-flat watch collection appeared, the emblem of the brand, marked by classicism and purity.
