About Sky-Dweller
Rolex Sky-Dweller, a sophisticated luxury watch
In 2012, Rolex once again shakes up luxury watchmaking with a particularly innovative watch. This new model is named Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller: it presents itself as a watch for frequent travelers that is both very simple to use and mechanically sophisticated - in fact, it is one of the most complicated watches from the famous Geneva-based manufacture.
The Sky-Dweller watch is the first model in Rolex history to feature dual time zones (the famous GMT function) and an annual calendar. The month, date and time can be read at a glance on the bezel: the traditional hands in the center indicate the local time, while a rotating disc off-center on the dial gives the reference time.
The day's date is perfectly legible in the window, while the month is displayed by the Saros annual calendar with 12 windows around the dial. To simplify the use of the watch, Rolex engineers have equipped it with a fluted rotating Ring Command bezel. The wearer can set the function of his choice (local time, reference time, date, month) with a simple rotation of the bezel. Innovative technologies that ensure a perfect comfort of use - the watch is moreover awarded 14 patents.
A design combining sporty lines and luxury aesthetics
The Sky-Dweller Rolex watch is a model of great versatility. Sporty, chic and functional at the same time, it adapts to all situations and brings an undeniable elegant touch to a city, sports or special occasion outfit.
The design of the model and its conception are particularly appreciated by lovers of exceptional timepieces. Its imposing Oyster case, 42 mm in diameter, contrasts with the finesse of the finishing and the display elements, for a particularly successful blend of styles. The model is also available in yellow gold, white gold, Everose (a gold alloy produced within the Rolex factory) and in steel and gold.
