Chaumet, the beginning

Created in 1780, the House of Chaumet quickly became the jeweler of the empire: jeweler of the imperial court, supplier of Empress Josephine, maker of Napoleon's coronation sword and the Tiara of Pope Pius VII... His fame spread throughout Europe. In 1812, the company moved to number 15 Place Vendôme in Paris. It is from 1811 that the jewelry becomes watchmaking on an order of Eugène Beauharnais.

The evolution of the manufacture

For a century, the House was run by the Chaumet family. Unfortunately, it was dubious business management that put the company in a bad light and caused it to be bought by the Investcorp group in 1987. And in 1999, the company once again flourished and was acquired by the LVMH group which finally made it what it is today. Today, the mansion at 12 Place Vendôme is the headquarters of Chaumet. It houses the design studio, the high jewelry workshop, the boutique opening onto the Salon des Diadèmes, and the 18th century Grand Salon, which is classified as a historical monument.
