Le Maillon, the other symbol of a jewelry revolution

When in 1965 Jean Dinh Van left the House of Cartier after ten years of loyal service to set up his own brand, his idea was clear and unmistakable: "to think of women who want to wear jewelry rather than be seen." The Franco-Vietnamese jeweler thus immediately went against the grain of voluminous sets as the luxury sector imagined them at the time. Jean Dinh Van imposes minimalism and all the rigor it requires, creates jewelry that can be worn every day, comfortable, never flashy. He invented the everyday jewelry, both unabashed and contemporary. Jewelry that also stands the test of time. The example that often remains in the memory is logically the iconic handcuffs Dinh Van, born in the very early 1970s when the designer decided that the clasp of jewelry no longer had to hide. But in reality, the birth of the iconic link predates this. In the mid-1960s, in his workshop on Place Gaillon in Paris, Jean Dinh Van imagined the 2-pearl square ring so dear to Pierre Cardin and reinvented the forçat-type link. The designer lengthens the chain link, rounds its angles, gives it another life - as he will do with the clasps six years later. The Maillon Dinh Van was born with its pure form and essential style. The jewelry house would make it into jewelry, bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings, as much as cufflinks for the gentlemen. At the same time, elongated and openwork links will be the trademark of necklace and bracelet chains featuring other Dinh Van designs.

Contemporary links from the new collections

With their different versions, the Maillon jewelry offered today by Dinh Van continues the legacy of the House's founder. The design remains true to itself, the jewelers play on the balance and harmony of volumes. Thus the latest collection, Maillon L, relies on a contemporary and ultra-feminine look, while displaying a sober and refined design. The wise maillon of the single earrings, 18-karat white gold and diamonds, becomes bolder on the large earrings: Dinh Van follows the trend of accumulation with its links chained on three rows. Link is precisely the spirit of Dinh Van and the jewelry is immediately identifiable, while allowing each woman to express her style. Always in thick white gold paved with diamonds, the rings are a perfect illustration of this. With the Maillon Star version, the link seems to unleash itself and chain itself into a shape whose base is not unlike the famous square ring imagined by Jean Dinh Van - and which largely participated in the reputation of the House. The Maillon L ring, for its part, plays on the effect of accumulation, stacking, which is particularly fashionable. In all cases, as in that of the Maillon L necklace with five diamond-paved links, the jewelry is recognizable among all jewelry brands. Wearing Dinh Van makes a claim!
