Amethyst, the stone of the Love Mouth ring

Mauboussin's Gueule d'amour ring is a bestseller from the new-generation Parisian Maison, one that strives to democratize jewelry by making it accessible. However, it is fully in line with the tradition of Mauboussin, renowned since the 19th century for its work on color and the enhancement of precious stones and gems. With Gueule d'amour, Mauboussin does not choose a variation of several stones on the same structure, as the House can do with collections like Capsules d'émotion or Soleil d'été. No, instead, it offers the exclusivity of its creation to a single fine stone: amethyst. A stone of the macrocrystalline quartz family, amethyst owes its purple color to the presence of iron in its composition. Particularly appreciated in jewelry for its vibrant hue, more or less dark, it is indeed a dichroic stone: its shades vary depending on the angle of vision, which brings a lot of brilliance and reflections to the jewel. These properties make it a fine stone highly prized. Cleopatra herself was not mistaken, who already wore amethyst jewelry. On a more symbolic level, amethyst represents wisdom and power. It is reputed to be the stone of peace, balance, serenity and wholeness.

A ring to give as a declaration of love

With Gueule d'amour, Mauboussin cuts the amethyst in cushion shape, with delicate, rounded curves, and which has always seduced women - it was in fact one of the first shapes given to diamonds by jewelers. The amethyst thus invites itself in solitaire on an 18-karat white gold ring, paved with six diamonds of 0.01 carats each, coming to surround the fine stone. Its claw setting on the corners perfectly highlights its brilliance and luminosity. The weight of the amethyst is 7.20 carats, and the ring of course comes in different sizes. A precious piece of jewelry signed Mauboussin Paris, adorned with eternal stones, in the shape of a solitaire, Gueule d'amour lives up to its name. It is undoubtedly a ring to give to the one you love, as an engagement ring in particular. Gueule d'amour is offered as a declaration. CEO Alain Némarq's vision is perfectly reproduced in this ring: "A piece of jewelry," he says, "is a talisman, a representation of the love of another. It brings a strong emotional content". Mauboussin as a jeweler of love? This has always been a trademark of the Parisian House, but even more so since the turn taken by the House in the 2000s. Founded in 1827 and bearing the name of Georges Mauboussin since 1922, the company, which has always remained independent, had to reorient itself when it lost its main client, a prince of the Sultanate of Brunei. By democratizing jewelry, thanks to affordable prices and especially on engagement rings, the brand has been able to turn things around and fully embrace the times. Solitaires, for example, have become thinner, able to be worn on a daily basis. The Gueule d'amour ring is a perfect illustration.
