The Orsetto bear, the must-have pendant from Pomellato
But who is Orsetto? A mascot, better yet an emblem, for the House of Pomellato: the
bear teddy bear pendant born in 1989, a bit regressive, celebrating childlike nature and worn as a "charm". At the time, it was all the rage and even Boy Georges adopted Orsetto. The bear, which today would be described as downright kawaii, is still a hit with
Pomellato. In particular, it has been updated for its 30th anniversary, with a slimmer body, tilted head and more abstract paw design. As for the clip, it's now on the left ear, reminiscent of the way kids grab their favorite teddy bear.
The
Orsetto pendant thus remains an iconic Pomellato necklace, now offered in all 18-karat rose gold versions, priced at €1,200 new, with the legs paved with diamonds, or revealing a soft heart enhanced with ruby, blue sapphire or emerald.
In addition to its symbolic side for Pomellato, Orsetto version XXI century meets two codes of the Milanese House: asymmetry and colored stone.
Colored stones, stars of Pomellato necklaces
The
colored stones, it is precisely about them in the majority of Pomellato collections, and therefore of their
necklaces and pendants. Thus
Nudo, in its pendant and sautoir versions, highlights precious and semi-precious stones such as amethyst, blue (or white) topaz, prasiolite or rose quartz, in their gold or mother-of-pearl bezels. Pomellato is also giving in to the customization trend with a
Nudo necklace to be worn in three ways: classic sautoir, double-turn necklace or lasso necklace with pendants. The stones, including the amazing obsidian, are additionally worked into a double-sided hourglass shape.
The M'Ama Non M'Ama pendants without chain (but with cord) and their stone encircled by two-tone diamonds adopt a more romantic look and play particularly on the
record of emotion : amethyst represents desire, peridot pleasure, moonstone joy, garnet love... It is worth noting that this collection is among the most affordable among
luxury jewelry Pomellato, with pendants priced at no more than €900 new - for a model in 18-karat gold, with one stone and eight diamonds.
As for the pendant version with chain of the iconic
Iconica ring, it adorns its rose gold band with six stones (orange, pink and blue sapphires, tsavorite, red spinel and tanzanite), as it comes in diamond or all-gold versions.
Chain and diamond necklaces
At Pomellato, everything is actually color and
happy jewelry, including diamonds. In this register, the most emblematic pieces are undoubtedly the
Catene necklaces, where the thick links of the chain are adorned entirely or alternately with colorless, brown, black or icy diamonds.
This
colored diamond work can be found in other iconic collections, particularly Tango and Sabbia. Pomellato does not hesitate, for example, to float around women's necks a lariat-like necklace whose design combines both the circle and the rectangle, paved with 781 brown, black treated and white diamonds around a wide rose gold chain.
