Chopard: the birth


It was in 1860 that Louis-Ulysse Chopard set up on his own as a watchmaker and his initials L.U.C became the name of his firm. Quality and "handmade" are the main priorities at Chopard. In 1940, Chopard created pocket watches and precision wristwatches for a clientele mainly in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. In 1974, the brand strengthened its creation of elegant women's watches and precious watches. In 1976, the first "Happy Diamonds" watch was launched. In 1980, the first sports watch with a leather strap, "St Moritz", was launched. In 1988, Chopard became a partner for the first time of the classic car rally race Mille Miglia. This race gives its name to a complete collection of "Mille Miglia" watches. In 1993, the Happy Sport collection was launched.

Quality as a driving line


In 1996, the company founded a watch factory solely for the production of L.U.C. movements. In 2000, presentation of a new movement with two barrels, "L.U.C Quattro" which offers a power reserve of 9 days. In 2001, the "L.U.C Tonneau" model was launched and in 2002 the new "Golden Diamonds" concept was presented. Chopard became the official timekeeper of the historic Monaco Grand Prix. In 2003, the "L.U.C tourbillon" model and the new "Happy Spirit" collection were released, followed in 2004 by the "L.U.C Régulateur" watch, in 2005 by the "L.U.C. Lunar One", in 2006 by the "L.U.C.
